Planet Catalyst on Warner Avenue

Catalyst took over this store in February 2026, in a former Planet 13 building billed at 55,000 square feet. It's among the largest cannabis retail footprints in Orange County.

The change customers noticed first was the pricing. Tax is already included, so what you see is what you pay, and regulars started saying so in their reviews within weeks of the sign changing. The Neighborhood

The lot matters here more than it does at most Catalyst stores. Warner Avenue sits on the seam where Santa Ana, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, and Garden Grove all meet.

That puts a large slice of Orange County within a short drive. South Coast Plaza and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts are about two and a half miles southeast, and the OC Fair & Event Center is roughly three and a half miles south.

John Wayne Airport is about four miles southeast, which matters more than it sounds given the 8am weekend opening. Mile Square Regional Park sits a mile and a half west in Fountain Valley.

Downtown Santa Ana and the Fourth Street corridor are about four and a half miles northeast.

Past the city line we pull from Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Westminster, Tustin, Irvine, Orange, and Anaheim.

Flower takes up a lot of wall space in a store this size. House eighths sit at one end and top-shelf jars at the other, with everything in between in order.

Pre-Rolls

The floor space here lets the pre-roll run go deep: singles for one evening, multi-packs for the week, and infused options for when a standard joint isn't doing it.

Infused means concentrate worked into the flower before rolling, which makes them typically more potent than standard pre-rolls.

Vapes and Cartridges

The vape case here runs deep, which helps if you know what you want and hurts if you don't. Start with hardware rather than flavor.

A cartridge needs a compatible battery you already own. An All-in-One comes with one built in and charged.

Concentrates

Concentrates get a full case here rather than a single shelf, and all of it needs a rig or a dab pen.

Live resin starts with fresh-frozen flower, which preserves more of the plant's original terpene profile. Cured resin starts with flower that was dried and cured first, giving the extract a different aroma and flavor.

Whatever you pick, the label tells you two things worth reading: the milligrams per piece, and the wait. California allows up to 10mg per serving and 100mg per package, and puts that wait at up to two hours.

Buying Cannabis Legally in California

California's medical cannabis law dates to 1996. Proposition 64 legalized recreational use, with licensed sales starting in 2018.

At Warner Avenue, the rules are:

Recreational purchases require a valid government-issued photo ID proving 21 or over. Medicinal purchases from age 18 require a physician's recommendation. A county-issued MMIC is also accepted, though not required.
In one day you may buy an ounce of flower, 28.5 grams, plus 8 grams of concentrate. Medicinal patients can go up to 8 ounces, or further if the recommendation specifies it.
No residency requirement applies to recreational purchases, and visitors shop under the same daily limits. Medicinal purchases need a recommendation from a physician licensed in California.
Consumption is limited to private property. Streets, sidewalks, and parks are off limits, and cannabis can't be taken across state lines.

Brands submit to it voluntarily, anything that passes carries a Cat 4 sticker in store, and high-selling brands have been pulled off the shelf for failing.
