Two numbers matter on the label: milligrams per piece and milligrams per pack. California caps adult-use edibles at 10mg per serving and 100mg per package, and onset can run to two hours.

Neither of these gets smoked. Balms, lotions, and patches go onto the skin, and many are non-intoxicating, though it varies by product, so check the label.

Buying Cannabis Legally in California

California voters approved medical cannabis in 1996 and recreational cannabis through Proposition 64. Licensed recreational sales started in 2018.
