About This Location

Catalyst on Imperial Highway

Imperial Highway runs east to west across southern Los Angeles County, and this store sits on it where the road crosses the 710 and the river. That's a junction rather than a neighborhood.

The store serves a wide spread of southeast LA: South Gate to the north, Compton to the southwest, Downey east along Imperial, plus Huntington Park, Cudahy, Paramount, Watts, and Willowbrook.

Weed for the People is how we price. Tax is already included, so what you see is what you pay, and a Cat 4 sticker means that product cleared our own pesticide panel, wider than the state requires.

The Neighborhood

Lynwood City Hall is a mile west along Imperial, with St. Francis Medical Center just past it at 1.2 miles. Plaza Mexico, the big open-air center on Imperial, is 1.8 miles the same way.

North of here, South Gate is a little over two miles. East along Imperial, Downey is about 3.2 miles.

The nearest Metro rail stop is Lynwood Station on the C Line, about 1.6 miles west at Long Beach Boulevard. Willowbrook and Rosa Parks, where the A Line and C Line meet, is 3.2 miles out. MLK Jr Community Hospital and the Watts Towers are both about 3.5 miles in that direction, and downtown Compton is 3.6 miles southwest.

What We Carry

Six categories on the Imperial Highway floor. Here's what's in each and what to ask for.

Cannabis Flower

Blue Zushimi, Black Mamba, Cereal Milk, and Royal OG rotate through the Imperial Highway wall, sold by weight from a gram upwards.

Astronauts, Coastal Sun, and Smoken Promises are among the cultivators. Don't remember the exact strain you bought last time? Give a budtender whatever you do remember, the brand, the flavor, the packaging, or how it smoked, and work backwards from there.

Browse the flower menu.

Pre-Rolls

Singles and multi-packs are both on the Imperial shelf, ready to smoke. Empty cones sit with them, though those are paper for packing your own flower rather than a finished pre-roll.

Infused ones have concentrate worked into the flower before rolling and are typically more potent than standard rolls. Coastal Sun, Murphy's Ridge, and Catalyst's own line cover the range. A Cat 4 house single runs $5.

See the pre-roll menu.

Vapes and Cartridges

Price is the easiest way to see the format difference here. A standalone cartridge is oil alone and needs a compatible battery you already own; an All-in-One arrives charged with one inside.

Plugplay, MJuice, Halfpipe, and our own Cat 4 line are all in the Lynwood case, the last at $19.50 a gram cartridge and $23 an All-in-One before the house-brand discount.

See the vape menu.

Concentrates

Hardware is important when buying concentrates. If you've got an e-rig, a traditional rig, or a concentrate pen, say which one before comparing products.

Budder, shatter, and crumble describe consistency rather than quality, and most of what's here is meant for dabbing. Bear Labs, Wvy, and Maven cover most of the case here, with the Catalyst line alongside them.

See the concentrate menu.

Edibles

A pack total and a per-piece figure are two different numbers, and the second is the one that matters. California limits adult-use edibles to 10mg THC per serving and 100mg per package.

Effects can take up to two hours to arrive, so give the first piece time before deciding. Drops, Wyld, Whoa, and Froot are stocked.

See the edibles menu.

Topicals and Tinctures

Two categories here never get smoked. Topicals go onto the skin as balms, lotions, and patches, and plenty are non-intoxicating, though that varies by product.

Tinctures are the liquid ones, measured with a dropper before going under the tongue or into a drink. Buddies, Papa & Barkley, St. Ides, and Friendly are the names here.

Buying Cannabis Legally in California

Medical cannabis was legalized in 1996, and recreational use followed with Proposition 64, which brought licensed sales in 2018.

On Imperial Highway, that means:

  • A government-issued photo ID showing 21 or over covers recreational purchases. Medicinal patients 18+ need a valid physician's recommendation; a county-issued MMIC works too, but it isn't required.

  • In one day that's an ounce of flower, 28.5 grams, and 8 grams of concentrate. Medicinal patients can buy up to 8 ounces, or more where the recommendation sets a higher figure.

  • Recreational purchases have no residency test, and visitors buy under the same limits as locals. Medicinal purchases need a recommendation from a physician licensed in California.

  • Consumption is limited to private property. Streets, sidewalks, and parks are all off limits, and cannabis can't be taken across state lines.
