About This Location
Catalyst on Cherry Avenue
Cherry Avenue is one of the roads Long Beach actually runs on, north to south, and this store sits on it a few blocks below the 405. It's a road people are already on rather than one they set out for.
That shapes how the place works. Order ahead on the menu, walk in, show ID, leave. Speed is what reviewers bring up.
Weed for the People is how we price. Tax is already included, so what you see is what you pay and nothing gets added at the till.
Catalyst came out of the legacy market, back when your bud came in a Ziploc, and this place is staffed and run by actual smokers.
The Neighborhood
The store sits between Signal Hill and California Heights, both under a mile, with Bixby Knolls about two miles north up Atlantic.
Long Beach Airport is the closest landmark of all at 0.9 miles east. Long Beach City College and Veterans Memorial Stadium are both roughly two miles northeast.
Further out, Rancho Los Cerritos and Scherer Park sit about two and a half miles north, and Lakewood Village is the same distance northeast.
The store serves North Long Beach, Signal Hill, California Heights, Bixby Knolls, Lakewood Village, and Los Cerritos.

What We Carry
Here's what's on the Cherry Avenue floor and what to ask for.
Cannabis Flower
Indica, sativa, and hybrid are the broad labels; strain and cultivator tell you more. Blue Zushimi, Black Mamba, Cereal Milk, and Royal Kush rotate through Cherry Avenue.
Astronauts, Coastal Sun, and Smoken Promises are the cultivators on the wall, and flower is sold by weight.
Pre-Rolls
Pre-rolls save you the grinder and the papers. Cherry Ave stocks singles and multi-packs, plus empty cones if you'd rather pack your own.
Standard pre-rolls are ground flower. Infused ones have concentrate folded in before rolling and are typically more potent.
Vapes and Cartridges
The case runs cartridges and All-in-Ones. A cartridge attaches to a compatible battery; an All-in-One has the battery inside and comes charged.
THC percentage on the box tells you concentration, not quality.
Concentrates
Extracts, sold by the gram, and used with a rig or a dab pen.
Budder, shatter, and crumble describe how the extract holds together rather than how good it is. Weed for Warriors and the Catalyst house line cover most of the case.
Edibles
Gummies, chocolates, mints, and baked goods sit on the Cherry Avenue edible shelf.
California caps adult-use edibles at 10mg THC per serving and 100mg per package. Check the milligrams per piece, then give the first one time to work, because onset can run to two hours.
Drops, Wyld and Whoa are all stocked.
Topicals and Tinctures
Balms, lotions, and patches make up the topicals shelf. Many are non-intoxicating, though it depends on the product, so check the label or ask a budtender.
Tinctures are liquid extracts with a marked dropper, taken under the tongue or added to a drink. Look for Friendly and Papa & Barkley.

Buying Cannabis Legally in California
Medical cannabis arrived in California in 1996. Recreational cannabis came later, through Proposition 64, with the first licensed sales in 2018.
What applies at Cherry Avenue:
For recreational purchases, a valid government-issued photo ID showing 21 or over. For medicinal purchases from age 18, a valid physician's recommendation. A county-issued MMIC works in its place but isn't mandatory.
One ounce of flower a day, which is 28.5 grams, plus 8 grams of concentrate. Medicinal patients can buy up to 8 ounces, or beyond that if their recommendation sets a higher amount.
No residency requirement applies to recreational purchases, and visitors and locals face the same daily limits. Medicinal purchases require a recommendation from a California-licensed physician, so an out-of-state card alone won't do.
Consumption is private property only. Public streets, sidewalks, and parks are all excluded, and cannabis cannot be carried out of the state.
For the longer version, see our guides to California cannabis laws and how to purchase weed in California.

A pesticide screen Catalyst built and runs beyond what California mandates, after finding chemicals in products that had already passed California-required compliance testing. Participation is voluntary, anything passing gets a Cat 4 sticker on the shelf, and brands that fail come off the wall irrespective of sales.
We stock them. Both the topicals and the tinctures shelves carry high-CBD, low-THC choices for adults 21+ after the format rather than the intoxication.
