The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens – Palm Desert

This staple of the area features 1,000 acres of desert ecosystem exhibits including bighorn sheep, giraffes, cheetahs and other small animals. It’s located at 47900 Portola Ave. Tickets are about 40 dollars but they are well worth it. You’ll feel like you’re embarking on a real life safari right here in California.

I don’t say this lightly but have you ever seen a real life cheetah up close? It’s life-changing. These are some of the fiercest, fastest and rarest animals on Earth and you don’t have to put yourself in harm’s way to see them. That’s an experience worthy of the admission fee. There’s also kangaroos, ostriches, mountain goats, rhinos, and so much more. It’s so powerful to see these beasts in person. It gives you a whole new perspective and sometimes an inexplicable urge to purchase and domesticate a kangaroo (I do not recommend this because they can fight better than any of you).

Really, it’s just a swell time for the whole family and it’s close to the Catalyst Palm Desert dispensary so you really have no excuse whatsoever not to go at least twice.
