Once a Cold War bunker that housed missiles and nuclear warheads, the missile sites have become hiking destinations with gorgeous views of the ocean. The trailhead is about a ten-minute drive from Catalyst Daly City.

You can find it by searching Milagra Creek Overlook Trail in your GPS. Know that you are stepping foot into history itself when you embark on such a path. Not only are you getting a little exercise and much-needed fresh air but you are doing so in a location once built during the perils of war. There are even little signs scattered about to inform you of the who, what, when and why of said war if you’d rather do your reading with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean.

Admire some of the finest graffiti in the land while you do it. If all that weren’t enough incentive, bring yourself a pre-roll, a Puffco with a jar of hash, a bag of  Camino edibles, a vape pen, whatever your fancy be and by all means indulge yourself in the solitude of God’s green Earth.
